Homecoming ...

Eleven Mile Canyon ... Is  my home water, and she always treats me well.  This snake river cutthroat made a long overdue homecoming so special. Watching this beauty move into the feeding lane, and knowing it was game on, was such a thrill.

Hope spring sees you on the river,

Jim

Perseverance ...

There are days in the river when perseverance is essential, days when you are tangled, broken off, and have lost more flies than you care to admit. Saturday I overcame each of these obstacles, and left the river proud of who I am. I continue to learn to control frustration, anger, and disappointment ... totally no, but each, and every outing I progress, as an angler, and as a man.

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing.”

Little Bugs ~ Big Fish

The title says so much ... This time of year small flies are pivotal in having success on the river, a great January motto is "thin is in." Tying small, slender flies at the vise takes extra patience, but the rewards are so worth the extra time, and effort. If you go to the river these colder, winter months think differently, drift a size 24 pheasant tail, a size 26 ninja midge, or even a size 28 avatar ... go ahead, challenge yourself.
